2010 Rex Proclamation
The 2010 Rex Proclamation depicts REX King of Carnival and his pages as they pass through the majestic canopy of oak trees on St. Charles Avenue. This iconic image of Carnival is painted by New Orleans native Anne Scheurich and dramatically conveys the feeling of Rex greeting his loyal subjects on Carnival morning.
2009 Rex Proclamation
Ed Dyer was selected by the School of Design to create the 2009 Rex Proclamation. Ed’s concept for the Proclamation was based on the theme of the 2009 parade, “Spirits of Spring”. This theme led him to imagine the freshness of spring in colors and flowers, along with some mystical characters from every child’s world fairies and elves all to create this unique and very colorful Proclamation.
Ed is known both nationally and internationally. His work is currently on exhibit in Paris. He is a signatory member of the prestigious Pastel Society of America and the Degas Pastel Society.
The Proclamation is a multi color silkscreen print. It is available signed and numbered in a special edition of 200 Proclamations signed by his Majesty REX 2009, the Captain and the artist.
An edition of 300 is available signed by the artist.
The print is also available numbered only in an edition of 1000.
2008 Rex Proclamation
Patti Adams has incorporated many historic elements and icons of the School of Design in the creation of this unique Proclamation. Patti is a member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society and studies at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, where she is a student of Auseklis Ozols.
The Proclamation is a multi color silkscreen print. The print is available signed and numbered in a special edition of 200 Proclamations signed by his Majesty Rex 2008, the Captain, and the artist.
An edition of 300 is available signed and numbered by the artist.
The print is also available numbered only, in an edition of 1000.
2007 Rex Proclamation
Jean Cassels has been chosen by the School of Design to create this historic 2007 Rex Proclamation. Jean is an award winning book illustrator, author, and artist. She was inspired by the 2007 Rex Parade Theme “THE LUNAR REALM” and has included the full moon and several moths particularly the Luna Moth in this year’s Proclamation. In the night sky are two constellations, on the left is Ursa Major, the Big Bear, that holds the Big Dipper;; on the right is the constellation Leo the Lion. The star that is the heart of Leo is named Regulus….King or REX. The wrought iron gate complete with antique fleur d’lis patterns represents the entry gate to the School of Design. Draped over the gate is the REX flag, purple, gold and green; with white camellias in the soft warm air of a New Orleans evening.

2006 Rex Proclamation Please note that the Numbered Edition has sold out.The 2006 Rex Proclamation by Auseklis Ozols depicts a steadfast and benevolent Rex protecting the Rex parade and the children of New Orleans from the fury of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Mr. Ozols is the founder and director of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. His works are collected world wide. The Official Proclamation proclaiming Carnival in New Orleans is one the most collected pieces of Mardi Gras memorabilia and has been issued since 1872.
The King’s Edition signed by the King of Carnival, the Captain of the Rex Carnival Organization, and the Artist, Mr. Ozols is available for $150.00. Only 200 of this edition are produced.
The Signed Edition signed by the artist Auseklis Ozols is $75.00 and is limited to only 300 prints.
